Mary laughed heartily at the idea of her sweet, calm, quiet friend, sporting a lion's badge and crimson sports robes. The image was a joyous one because a little Gryffindor version of Tabitha couldn't possibly be imagined without a flushed, excited expression, and daring eyes. That was a child who would leave her family behind to travel the world, and suddenly, the woman in front of Mary seemed to make more sense.

"You're smart, you're kind, and you're cunning, too," Mary said. "I wouldn't know where to put you. Although, I think that's the point of Hogwarts, right? To learn to be all of the Houses?"

There was a chance... a good chance... that she was sorely misunderstanding the point of Houses. That seemed like a good ideal to her, though, so she went with it.

"Sonora was perfect," she murmured, taking in their surroundings again and sipping from her wine. "My life fell apart when I was at school, but somehow, this old place couldn't be knocked down. This was truly the happiest place I could think of."

Mary smiled at Tabitha, hoping to convey an unspoken thought that she felt it might just be again, and then turned away again.

"It was less scary back then, but I didn't have the responsibility of professor!" She laughed at the thought of her own adolescent self becoming a professor.

"Did you think you'd get into this job? You said you took it to settle down, but did you really think you'd ever settle down?"
