Capt. Joella Curtis
Quidditch Sign-ups!

Irrelevant of her inner moral turmoil and bigger dreams, there was no way that Joella was willing to let the Quidditch Cup slip right through Pecari’s fingers this term. They’d made a breakthrough last year and now it was their turn to be the ever reigning Quidditch Champions, a title that Aladren had claimed for far too long.

Joella knew that her house had already shown more than enough interest to fill a team, but that by no means meant she wasn’t excited to see the new potential. As far as she had come, the sixth year wasn’t about to forget what it had been like when she was merely eleven years old and beside herself with excitement about becoming part of a proper Quidditch team!

She was keen for Luke to make it onto the team since she’d worked with him a lot over the past year, pleased with his interest in her sport, but she knew there was so much older competition that it was unlikely - there was no way Joella would ever be biased or lenient when it came to Quidditch because she wanted the best players she could possibly get her hands on, irrelevant of who she was friends with or related to. That was only fair, and fair a captain should be.

Even if she didn’t expect the first years to make the cut and get onto the team, she hoped some of them would sign up because reserves were never a bad thing and they would still train alongside the team, which would definitely benefit them in the future when spots opened up. That being said, the Pecari captain was not completely ready to rule out all chances of the youngest students in the school making the team. No player, besides herself (and the assistant captain, she supposed) was guaranteed a space on the team, although it was more than likely they would remain so it wasn’t worth actually telling them this.

She had one thing to do before she could settle in and catch up with her roommates after the Opening Feast and that was to add the final touches to her mostly pre-prepared Quidditch sign-up sheet and then put it up on the notice board in the common room, so that it would be ready for even the earliest birds tomorrow morning. She also had a letter to write to a lucky teammate but that, she felt, could wait for just a few more hours.

Calling all Pecaris!

Joella had written at the top of the sign-up sheet. She had written in clear capitals, a sparkling gold that was bound to catch the eyes of her housemates. Her best subject being Charms, the now-Advanced student tested her abilities by charming the border into animated Quidditch figures on brooms with the various balls whizzing about. She didn’t let the aesthetics spread across the parchment very far, however, because she wanted to leave plenty of space for signing up - confident given the numbers in recent years that they would once again have plenty of interest.

Join last year’s champions, the Pecari Quidditch team, and help us win that Quidditch Cup again!
Try-outs will be held on the pitch this Saturday at noon. All levels are welcome.
Please give your name, year and preferred position below.

She wrote her own name and details at the top of the designated signing space as an example, a small thing like being the first name on the paper reminding her that she was now captain… Joella smiled and was suddenly filled with determination that she had an amazing two years ahead of her.
