Louis shook his head as released his hair from his towel before running a hand through it to make sure it looked messy but artistic. He didn’t just let it lie any old way! In nothing but his boxers, he walked out of the shower and into the dorm room, continuing to hum along to the song in his head. Dustin would doubtless be used to Louis wandering around topless by now. Modelling did a lot to decrease self-consciousness – not that Louis had ever been particularly self-conscious. His Quidditch clothes were already laid out of his bed, and he quickly got changed before hunting down some breakfast.

It wasn’t the finest of days, but luckily magic was a big help there. A quick drying charm later and Louis was no longer affected by the worst of the weather. It sure was handy being a wizard sometimes, despite the drawbacks that appeared to come with his situation.

Louis was glad for the change in the other team that had made it to the final. It was nice to be playing someone other than Pecari, especially after last year’s defeat. He was also relieved not to be playing against Ingrid again. He wasn’t really sure where they stood, but even though he felt she had sort-of rejected him, he still liked her. Whilst he definitely could put feelings aside for Quidditch, it was easier if he didn’t have to. The people he knew best on the Crotalus team were Arne and Évreux. Arne was good fun to play against – there was nothing against having a mate as your opposite, and he was sure they’d have a few laughs about the game afterwards. Évreux was a different matter. Louis hadn’t spoken to the younger boy since that day in the MARS room, and he didn’t particularly want to. Evreux had shown his true colours, and Louis wouldn’t feel any concern about sending a bludger his way.

It was strange to think that Louis had initially debated over signing up for Quidditch. He couldn’t imagine not playing now. He still found flying freeing in the same way he always had, being able to forget his worries and thoughts once in the air, but now it was so much more than that. He enjoyed being part of the Aladren team, finding himself becoming closer to his teammates over the years. He was friends with his old chaser buddies, Jack and Arianna, and that had also led to spending time with them outside of Quidditch practices too. Switching to beater that year had also meant he’d practised more with John, and he found that he liked the older boy, finding him intelligent, interesting and, at times, amusing.

He grinned round at everyone as Clark began his pep-talk, reminded that it was his captain’s last game and feeling determined that Clark would go out on a win. Not only did he want it to happen, but he knew that it was realistic. The Crotalus team was not one to be underestimated, but neither was the Aladren team. He’d been working with the chasers, and their new players were shaping up well, supported by Arianna and Jack. Besides, they had the nigh-unbeatable Clark-John team on their side, so victory was sure to be theirs! He was still on an optimistic high as they rose into the air, and was immediately off in search of a bludger. Time to hammer some Crotali!

Unfortunately, he wasn’t quick enough off the mark, and Arne had got the bludger, aiming it straight towards one of Louis’s little chasers, or in this case fausse-chaser. Said chaser proved to be good at dodging, luckily, and Louis was soon in the vicinity. Daniel Fintoc had just passed the quaffle, and Louis immediately sent the bludger towards the recipient, hoping to throw off their catch.

“Better luck next time,” he called over to Arne, making an exaggerated sad expression at his friend’s failed attempt at taking out Amelia.
