This. This was exactly why Laila worried that Sammy didn’t know what she was getting herself into. Jamie Park was everything Laila disliked about boys and Laila didn’t dislike many things about boys. He was overconfident and arrogant and thought too highly of himself. He didn’t seem to care much about the people he was close to and that number was two. When was the last time Laila had seen Jamie and Shino hanging out? Had Jamie needled his small two down to a one? Had he used Shino like he was probably using Sammy?

Laila felt incensed, especially because he was currently talking down to her. “You know as well as I do that Sammy can take care of herself,” Laila snapped. “But as her friend it’s my job to worry about her well-being when I think something dreadful is coming that she hasn’t foreseen. And you are…” she paused as she searched for the right term. “Definitely unforeseen. If you’re planning on being perfectly pleasant than I have no qualms but if you plan on just using her, I know people.”

Jamie was rather scrawny in comparison to some of her sports-playing cousins back home who were Muggles to boot and so for Jamie to fight back with his only know-how, magic, he would be breaking likely hundreds of wizarding laws. “Anyway, I have to get back to the field and Sammy’s probably going to be here soon so, you know, it was nice chatting with you.” She gave Jamie a peppy little smile and hopped off the stands to join the other Spirit Club students. If Jamie called something after her, she either didn’t hear it or was choosing to be the bigger person and ignore it. She wasn’t about to let the seventh year Pecari ruin her day.
