Parker was feeling good after his breath of air, and then his stomach lurched a bit as the Quaffle he threw went into someone else's hands. Looking below him as it happened Parker realized just how full contact the sport was as one chaser ran into Ingrid, while a Bludger flew by them both nearly knocking Teppadren player in the process.

Parker quickly reached into his pocket to feel the last little bit of the Juniper branch he had brought with him to school. It wasn't an apple, but there was something reassuring about it while he rode a flying freaking broom. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Ingrid give a thumbs up as he sped off in pursuit of the Quaffle. Again, Parker appreciated the gesture, but with the heat of competitiveness stoked now after that, he only bashed himself inside his head and got angry.

He went through his list in his head again. He had succeeded in number one, but failed at number two while trying to do number three. Number two was more important, and if he was honest, was probably the most important to him. He felt like he had to prove his worthiness for being put in this position, and so he mentally scratched off the whole list and wrote a new one that was short and sweet.

One - Help your team win.

He was now down the field trying to follow the older boy who he didn't know. All Parker could tell was the older boy was a lot better at flying. He saw that the Quaffle was about to be thrown and Parker went as fast as he knew how, racing for where he thought the ball might go. As the older boy dropped down and popped back up though Parker couldn't move is broom fast enough to get in between the ball and watched it fly over his head.

Gah! Drats! Parker began kicking himself again until he realized he was now in front the Quaffle. He turn around so that he might head towards whoever had the Quaffle and possibly play chicken with whoever had it. As Parker had just noted from the interception, this was a full contact sport, so he might as well get a little contact. He took a bit wider turn than he anticipated since he was going so fast and sped forward towards the Quaffle as he breathed out.

This was either going to be really good or insanely stupid, both scenarios worked for Parker as it appeared from his perspective to follow his now one rule.

The match got off to a good start. Simon had picked up her pass. It was a shame there was such a gap in their ages and houses… Had things fallen out differently, maybe they’d have been people who got ... more
