Not worth buying an item, not worth renting an item.

If a person can make and bring a thumb drive music library, they can also bring the device to play them, IMO. Any small, old laptop would work that has a USB connection.

How about you tell them to load the desired music onto their phone or tablet and use a simple 3.5mm mini plug to RCA or 1/4" corded adapter into your smallest mixer? That's what I ended up doing at the last wedding I gifted DJ services for. People kept asking, "Do you have this song?" Until finally one asked if I could jack in their phone. People just downloaded what songs they wanted onto the phone and I hooked it into my baby dbx drive pro which had a miniplug jack input, swapping out phones as they were loaded.
