Political correctness run amuck. The left's concern that all

thing should be right, fair, untainted, nonjudgmental, and meet whatever their many times questionable standards specify often do start out with decent intentions, but so many of their actions soon careen off the road, then off the road's shoulder, finally ending up in a deep ditch turned upside down.

Down south of us about a half hour in the Branson, Missouri area we have Silver Dollar City, assorted country entertainment venues, and various other tourist trap businesses. One of the more popular venues is "Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede".

It's a fairly popular attraction that serves a meal while you are entertained in a somewhat country/rodeo fashion.

Well, they've decided that the word "Dixie" might be offensive to some, so they name has been changed to "Dolly Parton's Stampede". Parton says the change streamlines the name, and removes any concern or confusion visitors may have.

Concern? Confusion? Yeah right. Like they'll show blacks being lynched or something for entertainment? Being whipped while picking cotton down on the plantation? First its the historical statues and anything else historically incorrect by today's standards. What's next?

Hmmm? Dixie State University needs a name change. We've obviously got to get rid of the Dixie paper products name. No more calling paper cups Dixie cups. I guess that will go for anything with the Dixie name in the businesses title. Winn-Dixie grocery stores, the Dixie Chicks, Dixie Construction, Dixie Produce, Dixie Chemical, Dixie School District, Dixie Photography, Dixie Fish Co., Dixie Technical College, and the list goes on and on.

An interesting web page about the subject:
