because the effects of the rise of Google, Facebook*, and Amazon have been a win/win/win/win/win for consumers of their services and even other business that were bankrupted by Walmart et al, and those who now have direct access to an established marketplace, Amazon, with a reputation for carefully vetting Third Party Sellers so customers can shop with greater confidence..

Walmart, Costco, Home Depot, Lowes et al were putting a lot of the Mom and Pops out of business.

Amazon has provided many of those Mom and Pops, aka now as Third Party Sellers. with a global platform from where to sell their wares.

Ditto with wares such as books. Amazon has put Borders et al out of business with B&N hanging on by a thread while trying to reinvent themselves.

However, Amazon provides access to virtually every book in print, and many which have long been out of print via their Third Party Second Hand sellers.

As for writers striving to get published, anyone can now self-publish and sell his Great American Novel or blue print for printing firearms without begging some publisher but by going directly to the marketplace via Amazon.
