Shiloh (Garand thru Mira)
Re: Happy New Year
Tue Jan 8, 2019 12:52am

Garand looked at his father and then back to Lana… Lana with this… thing… speaking through her, controlling her. He moved to hold her chin, wincing to himself as he forced her to drink it and then placed his hand over her mouth to keep her from spitting it out, to make her swallow it, which was a normal reflex for most people in similar situations. He had to… to save Lana.

“Good point,“ Soraya said. “I guess you would know better than we would, since you’ve been living here. Unkindness seems to have a bit of a slower pace to it than Aer’Oro,“ she noted. “Or, well… maybe not slower, but different from what Abbadon and I are used to. I didn’t spend any real time in La’Shire… but I imagine the energy there is even more different,“ she said, though Safira couldn’t confirm it, since she’d probably never been herself. “I have a couple of friends there who have told me as much in letters,” she noted.

Poesy groaned a bit in her sleep, her eyes tensing shut more for a moment before she turned her head against the pillows and opened her eyes just a little bit. She looked weak and exhausted, where one would be surprised to know she’d been stumbling along on her own to the castle before Pallas found her. She didn’t see Menda, but heard the kangaroo mouse moving around, her heart pounding as she struggled to remember where she was and what was happening, but just as quickly she was out again.

Saffy watched him drink, feeling a small twinge of relief… though it wouldn’t really set in until it began to work. She cast her eyes down and away, hugging herself as he removed his shirt and started applying the cream to his vicious scars. When he asked about what happened… why she was nervous… and pointed out he would know if she lied to him… she felt like she would fall down right there. She felt trapped worse than when he had her locked up in his pocket dimension. “I… heard… others talking in the infirmary. They… mentioned me… They didn’t seem to even know I was… gone…“ she said, which was the truth, if just part of it. She knew if he suspected she was holding anything back, he would force it out of her if he wanted. He wouldn’t hurt her, but he would threaten to do other things. She hoped he left it at that, but… she also knew his suspicious nature at this point.

“We don’t have any image crystals inside the infirmary rooms. Privacy procedures,” Cyan said, turning in her chair a bit to look at Duncan and Alcyone.

“But it appears Movado and some others are getting into position. I’ve determined the signature of Aether’s type of magic. I should be able to pick up on when he releases her from its influence if it spikes in the area of the infirmary…” Indy said, keeping an eye on the screens.

Orion smiled at the question and tried to think of how to describe it. “Well… it’s really better to see it for yourself, but… it’s a place in Unkindness that is full of color and whimsy, with artists and musicians and dancers, merchants and small food kiosks. It’s a pretty popular place for people to go to freely express themselves and be fully accepted for it,“ he said. “It’s different from the market place or shopping district you saw earlier…”

Wrath looked in the direction of the castle and back to Raiser. “I… don’t know much about Arcadia, I’m afraid… or what would motivate him to leave the castle,“ he confessed. “A normal man’s motivation is love and family… others, like me, it’s power.“ Fii wasn’t the only one in the castle with time and space magic either, though they wouldn‘t know that, and she certainly couldn‘t wield his ancient Sword of Ages. Sun was a novice at her rare form of magic and it was currently running haywire on her with her pregnancy. But in the future, she has the capacity to actually send individuals through time to alter history’s course. She was the one to send Celluna, Kahiri and Archer. She’d also sent and received back Nikiva. And the present Sun quite accidentally exchanged the infant Arielle, Aura and Auel for their older future selves, something she needs to learn to control her magics to be able to rectify. Her future self wouldn’t right it because of her awareness that she needed to learn to do it in this time in order to have the strength she does in the future. It’s also a magic that she and Fii would no doubt one day bond over in friendship, as both try to understand and learn to wield it.

Wynter smiled a bit, glad he was in agreement. She nodded a bit and held his hand a bit tighter as they made their way back to their room, where it was safe and quiet and they could be close.

Senn nodded a bit. “Smells like they’ve been hard at work for hours,” he noted. The smells were amazing in the kitchen. You’d think at some point the aromas of various dishes would conflict in the air and become unappetizing, but never. It was always this delicious medley of scents. He looked around, wondering if Tae was down the chef’s alley, as she called it, a long hall full of various cooking stations, stoves, ovens and such.

Cleo seemed to perk up a little when Ceil said that he’d been essentially given approval to be a doctor here in the castle. She knew he wanted to be able to do that and to help. But there was also a confusing sense of relief too when he said that he would only be on call as needed for the time being. She didn’t understand why she got those feelings, though… “So… you’re happy?“ she asked, as though he hadn’t always been just being here with her, and while the naïve girl didn’t mean it that way, Ceil would probably still want to assure her he was always happy, just now he gets to help others too.

Meeka looked around once she was set down. She took a few steps away from Daire, taking in the new gardens, then turned back and grabbed his hand and pulled him along, which the petite mink made look easy despite their height differences, but that was because Daire was more than happy to go wherever she went. “Look at these ones,“ she said with a squeak. The garden had even more flowers she’d never seen before.

Thayne moved over to their usual table, which got a lot of sunlight this time of day. He set her down, knowing they wouldn’t likely be staying, but rather getting their meals to go, so they could eat in the gardens. Something Baillie seemed keen on doing. But for the moment, they could just relax here a bit at the table and wait for their food. Already he could see one of the staff coming over to see to their orders. “So then, Baillie, anything you’re thinking you might want to eat, or do you want to see if she has anything new to offer as a special today?” he asked.

Liam felt her hand, and while his instinct was to recoil from the touch, because some part of him thought it was Cecelia… the warmth of her touch, the love in it, he knew in an instant it was Frau. It pulled him out of his thoughts and he turned to look at her. He was grateful that she didn’t say anything about it… just… offered to head outside with him for a bit… He nodded a bit. “Yeah… yeah, outside sounds good.”

It took almost no time at all before Celluna was sound asleep again, but Kahiri would hear little Inara starting to rouse in her cradle. The tiny new born waking up due to being wet and in need of a changing. She’d nursed not too long ago, so a warm, dry change of diaper and clothes and a little cuddle from her daddy would probably soothe her before Celluna was woken by her whimpers.

Nikki returned the kiss and smiled back up at Averie. “Well… that’s reassuring, I guess,“ she said, meaning that even those with wings could get nervous of the heights when first learning. “I guess I just have to start considering your wings… my wings too, so I can feel less and less scared of it,“ she said, knowing he wouldn’t mind being her wings one bit if it meant getting to have her up there with him from time to time.

“How do you always have such faith in me, even when I doubt myself?“ Topaz asked him curiously. She wasn’t upset or objecting to his statements that she wouldn’t hold back with this, that she’d find her way through it… but she did wonder how he did it. He didn’t really take her tough act as a deterrent in any situation, it seemed. And that’s exactly what she needed.

Eventually, Lassa broke the surface of the water again and she shifted back to her human form, treading water and looking around for Trilander. She played a bit and burned through a lot of her spare energy she’d regained during that bath and nap. Now she seemed content to just float around in the water with Trilander… wherever he was under the surface.

Ginseng looked at him and resisted the urge to blush when he more or less offered to help fill her days in the castle… by showing her around and introducing her to all of the amazing things one could do here, especially things she may never have experienced back in the Painted Plains… under Ravenna’s rule. “Sounds… nice. Thank you,“ she said, nodding when he said they should meet up with her sisters and the others. She let him lead the way into the gardens to where it opened up to the large swimming hole and all of the falls of various heights and forms. She stopped in her tracks. “…Wow…“ she said. Where she came from, they didn’t have anything like this… and everything was so flat… This place was like a jungle paradise, of which she’d only read in books that were given to her in secret and not permitted by Ravenna.

“Gigi!” Vi shouted excitedly upon seeing her sister arrive with Sorei. She lost focus a bit, but Maks had her and helped keep her up as the pup flailed her arms in the air happily. “Come in! It’s so fun, Gigi!”

Jin smiled as Keyon agreed with her and spoke so confidently about the future, not theirs and the children… any they had, or Aussie and Rhys, or even Shasta and Vani… She snuggled in against him, laying her head on his chest as she laid on him on the balcony sofa. “Mmmm… I like that thought. We just have to always hold onto it…“ she said with a smile.

Vespa smiled and nodded a bit when Miharu picked her up and assured her that, if the flowers weren’t there when they returned, they would be soon enough. It would be that fragrant, vibrant garden of a room again before they knew it… especially once they’d embraced each other again. It’d been days since they had that connection, and the last time they were together hadn’t been ideal by any means. While it still produced the waters that inevitably saved Vespa from her blood ties to her parents, it was also initiated by Raiser and not them. “Okay…“

“…. Maybe tomorrow… Right now I just want to be here with you,“ Zai said, looking at Aiyan and holding her cup between her hands. “Besides… I’m sure he’d like to settle in today and just rest tonight, especially traveling these days…“ She looked down and moved a hand over her tummy. “The baby’s okay, right? I… it’s all a little fuzzy still… even what Maize said as we were leaving. She said it’s okay?“ she asked, looking at him again. She’d been pulled down the stairs, landing hard on the floor twice…

“So that‘s where Lorna is getting those blends from,” Maize said quietly. She looked at Athrun as he explained he would be returning to Ethion after delivering Bram to La‘Shire safely… but that they wouldn‘t even be making that journey for a few days yet… giving Bram time to create useful weapons and tools for the druids of Ethion with the Luminour. She nodded a bit. “If it was two months ago, I‘d have asked to go with you… to see La‘Shire and its lands myself… but… the enemies of today are far darker in nature than anything we‘ve faced before. The horrors and tragedies of before seemed comparably less world-ending than this false darkness.” She took a breath and sighed, smiling at him. “I shouldn‘t talk about such things. You just arrived, and Ethion is a place of light and sanctuary and life.”

“You okay? You’re… awfully quiet,“ Eko said with a playful lilt in his voice as they laid there. Kirie could be a bit of… well… a chatterbox, to put it lightly. It was perhaps a good thing, though, because back when she first rescued him from death in that cave… he wasn’t exactly the most sociable tiger and far from a conversationalist. It was mostly Kirie’s voice filling the room. Her quietness now… he assumed it was a good thing, because she was just doing the same thing he was doing -- savoring the calm and the moment. But he just wanted to be sure.

Sarah smiled and nodded as Millie seemed to agree with the song, but then it faded a little bit, which Sarah was quick to hide well. She appreciated her younger sister’s help with Mikleia, but… a part of her, in her heart, felt sad and a regretful that Millie would have missed the cue in Sarah’s voice that indicated she was looking forward to being the one to sing it to Mikleia… A part of Sarah felt hurt, but she also knew Millie didn’t really think it through or intend anything by it, only to help Mik… so Sarah did as Sarah often did… and swallowed any emotions that were less than positive or optimistic. What mattered was that Mik would sleep well tonight, but Sarah’s heart was pounding and she didn’t understand why. She supposed she knew Millie needed to sing the song to send Mik’s dreams safely where they needed to go… but it was Sarah’s mistake. She should have picked a different lullaby for her to sing… as this one, ‘Drelu ser Nat,’… Sarah had wanted to share with Mik, wanted to be the first to sing it to her, as it was so precious for Sarah… being something she remembered hearing the first time from Nessarina as she tucked her in at night with promises that she would be safe and loved.

Sarah nodded to Drak and stepped out of the room, as Mik was asleep, letting him finish tucking her in. “Thank you, Millie,” she said quietly. She was grateful for the help and didn’t want her sister to pick up on any other emotions Sarah was feeling at the moment. That moment was gone. There would be others, but not that one.

Mira’s ears perked up at that rumbling sound Koran made and she laughed, shaking her head a bit. “You sound like you’re getting excited just thinking about them,“ she purred. Her purrs revved a bit more as his hand moved off her rear and along the underside of her tail, making the soft fur fluff up even more than usual.
