Linda (Mandy & Piper)
Our first week progress report

All I can say is "Piper has exceeded our expectations for how easy it has been adding a second dog into our home." She is so dog gone sweet and such nice manners Piper has learned in Puppy Boot Camp. She sleeps in her crate at night and this morning she finally slept in until 6:30 a.m., (previously it was 5:00 or 5:30 this along with daylight savings time was brutal). During the day she will nap in the house on either to cool wood floors or tile. If we leave, she goes into her crate but that is only for an hour or less. Piper does not like the sun, but loves to hang outside in the shade and check out everything around her. I am hoping she will adapt to our hot Florida sunshine come summer time. Yesterday, I was out watering some new plants and I turned around to see where she was and couldn't see her behind me so as I turned back around here she was standing under the hose just soaked and trying to drink all the water. It gave me a great opportunity to try the neat towels Crystal sells online - she was dry in no time.

We went to the Vet yesterday and she weighs 8 lbs., but eats like she is 50! I started giving her carrots today for a treat since I was concerned I was feeding her too much. The Doctor told me to put a teaspoon of wet food in with her kibbles which helps slow down their eating process. He said "it acts like peanut butter on their teeth so they will eat slower trying to get the juice off their teeth." I am trying this trick as well, since I have some of the Life's Abundance canned food. Now, I am feeding her 3/4 cup 3X day plus another quarter cup for treats of the LA kibbles. If she hears any cupboard opening or bag she comes running and goes to her bowl to see if there is any food in it and acts like she is starving.

We have all experienced her razor sharp teeth and it seems every other word we say is "NO BITE." Wow, how easily one forgets about those little needles sinking into your skin. All in all it's going very well and we are constantly being entertained by the romps between Mandy and Piper or just watching little Piper watch Mandy for guidance. We are all loving it!
