Just dropped her off at our vet who also has a wonderful boarding facility. We're flying the family out to California, bringing a couple of my children's friends, in the morning for spring break. I was fine until we headed out the door. :( Ouch, was that hard!
They absolutely adore Pippa there, and our sweet girl who took her back has a serious crush on our girl. They were both very happy to see one another. We said goodbye and she skipped off happily with Shannon for her week there.
Keep our girl in your prayers... and I hope you all don't think I did the wrong thing, but it is also the time range our vet recommended for her spay surgery. Our vet suggested we have it done this week while we are gone, so Monday morning she's scheduled for 10am Missouri time.
I had a hard time weighing it, but our vet (who I have shared here before has told me she wants to take Pippa HOME and keep her!) said she will be able to keep watch over her healing process and also able to make sure Pippa rests and stays calm as she heals. Our vet has always had Goldens, and so she has asked me over and over all about our Golden Doodle experience. Her husband is a dentist in town, and two of my friends who go to him told me they heard through HIM that his wife is in love with Pippa! So with that in mind, I really feel like she's in great loving hands.
I was hesitant at first, but decided to go this route. We had a horrible time with our cat's surgery a few years back (different vet)... despite her collar she was able to get to her stitches one evening and it was bad. We took her in, and next she developed something at the site like a hernia (different name and I don't recall). With that in mind I decided it might work for the best. Our vet knows what we went through with our cat, and she was incredibly supportive and assured me she thought this was the best idea.
So... even though we'll be at Disneyland Monday... I'll be on the phone a lot checking in on her.
My husband was a bit stunned by the teary departure this afternoon... I think it's the goodbye, plus knowing she's going to have surgery.
She just looked SO beautiful, happy, and just down right Moss Creek ADORABLE as she took off with Shannon. *Sigh*... ready to get there and back!!
