Hi Jen, Daisy has really surprised me. She seems docile and sort of easy-going and then she goes for the blood! She is just very assertive in many ways and it really shows in her interactions with Maggie. I think between the support on the forum and talking with my husband on Skype who is currently in Saint Lucia on business, I have concluded that Daisy isn't going to integrate into our family. I really do feel we owe Maggie that. She is such an amazing creature and it pains me to see her uncomfortable much less fearful. I will continue to love Daisy and work towards a happy solution for her. She is a lovable dog (in spite of her assertiveness!) and I do love her in addition to her being my brother's dog. However, that doesn't mean that she has to live in our house. I will continue to work on other solutions plus possibly ask Ren to seek out a qualified trainer for an evaluation. I have talked with a couple of "trainers" before I posted on the forum, but I don't think they are qualified. I'm sure Ren knows some that could give excellent evaluations if we go that route.
Thank you ALL again for your support and advice. We are all so fortunate to have this forum! Keep us in your prayers and I know we will find a solution that is right for all concerned.
What an awful thing to be dealing with on top of the loss of your brother. I'm so sorry for your loss. I really admire that you decided to adopt your brother's dog. But I'm sure that you had no idea... more
