My email address is mar.howell@comcast.net and cell is 772-579-8707. We'll be at Cove Haven Marina when not cruising. Smoochie only sailed with us the season before last; we didn't go last summer. She was 1 1/2. We had tried to get her used to using potty pads before we left. We looked crazy I'm sure, in the yard trying to get her to go on the pad so she would know it was OK! That didn't work, so we "got a sample" and put it on the pad so she could see/smell it. That never worked either.She always waited until we took her ashore. Even once after she had been swimming and drank the water--she threw up in the cockpit and we knew we were in trouble, but the poor thing waited 45 minutes until we got back to the marina, and then didn't even go until we got to the potty area. She had a real "explosion' of diarrhea; we just couldn't believe she had held it. I guess eventually she wouldn't have been able to... Anyway, we just took her in the dingy in the mornings and evenings, and lots of days we'd be ashore somewhere and she 'd come. The one thing we didn't do, which we have to force ourselves to do this time, is leave her on the boat alone. It was ridiculous, but we (especially me) are ridiculous about our Smoochie! I couldn't bear to leave her down below alone, so we never went to a restaurant or anywhere where she couldn't go. It was dumb, so I hope I can get myself to do it. My husband says he wants to, but I know it will be hard for him too... I'll post when we are there, but send me your contact info if you'd like!
OK...time to ask. How many people here are from MA or RI that own a doodle? I know many doodles live down South, but curious how many we have in the New England area? Creasey is a happy doodle in... more

Do you go to the dog park in Barrington? We've been meaning to make it up there one weekend because we've heard good things about it...we're only about 15-20 minutes from there.
I've never been there because there was a death last year, I suspect due to a negligent owner with a dog who didn't belong in a dog park. That said, I'd be willing to go have a look at it since it's... more
