Info on Animal Rescue in Texas

The DH and I (he's a Board Member and I'm full of ideas) are part of Yankee Golden Retriever Rescue based in Hudson, Massachusetts. YGRR is and will be assisting animal rescue organizations in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. Information is still coming in and more will be happening as it can be arranged.

We have learned that Golden Retriever Acres Senior Sanctuary in Spring, TX (Facebook page has all info) sustained a lot of water damage and will have to rebuild. The dogs have all been safely evacuated. The staff have suffered great personal losses but are still working to get things going again. YGRR will be sending financial support to help them get back on their feet but I invite you to look at their site and support them with a donation if you are looking for ways to help. Our YGRR Director has an established relationship with this rescue and they are a good one and are real.

YGRR will be receiving our first group of "Harvey" dogs in the coming week and we are also sending a truck to Texas on Sunday with supplies for those rescues in need of them. There are a lot of smaller rescues that aren't making the headlines and getting the big donations and help but it's hard to know who's real and who isn't.

YGRR is not a huge rescue but it is a very dedicated group of caring people who love dogs and have a strong spirit of volunteering their time and resources. The "Harvey" dogs will hopefully thrive at Riverview, our pastoral rescue facility, where every attempt will be made to meet their emotional, medical, physical and behavioral needs in positive ways hopefully leading to carefully vetted forever homes.

If we all do what we can it will make a difference. At first I was sorry I wasn't Sandra Bullock or J.J. Watt and then I decided to do what I could and realized humble as it may be every effort counts.
