get a toy when we come in and he's excited which discourages jumping. If he gets overstimulated when the itty bitties (grandkids!) come over, he will go get a toy instead of jumping. I recently did a massive toy purge and got rid of everything that was unstuffed or in the process of being unstuffed or anything that was beginning to show excess wear like pieces being bitten off, etc. When DH came home from work tonight, Roo apparently couldn't find a toy because after scurrying around looking, Roo finally grabbed his dog bed and brought it to DH. He's such a nut, but a good nut! Looks like Santa better come through with plenty of dog toys or Roo will be dragging his bed all over the house, lol. Ellie hasn't learned the "get a toy" command. Her cue to settle seems to be watching as Roo settles, then she calms as well.
