Does anyone give their pups the ProHeart6

heart worm injection? Our vet offers it and while the convenience is attractive, I worry about injecting something into my dogs that is strong enough to remain effective in their systems for 6 months. I'm not a huge fan of monthly heart worm meds and grudgingly give them only during 9 months of the year.

Thoughts? The vet didn't recommend it, I just happened to see literature for it in the office when I took Ellie in today for her annual visit and vaccinations. You must wait 2 weeks after vaccinations to receive the ProHeart6 so I have a few weeks to research.

Little Miss weighs 54.5lbs and is a happy, healthy little girl. I did have the vet assistant trim her nails for me and Ellie acted like a crazy dog. I never have trouble doing it myself at home, but Ellie was distressed and cried out 2 or 3 times. Won't be doing that again!

I'd appreciate it if you have any experience or opinions you would be willing to share about the ProHeart6 six month heart worm injection.

Hope everyone is doing well! I'm in the middle of a semester of statistics and it makes me stressed and grouchy. Boo.
