On the advice of our beloved trainer, we had to decrease the attention we were giving him by 30%. Less petting, less talking, less engaging in any way, less looking at him, etc. and go back to some basic training. She encouraged us to make him sit for meals, going outside, etc, along with some mini training sessions. And be careful with "breathing treats" (treats for no reason)! She also encouraged us to not allow him on the furniture - it is the one thing I didn't follow.

He was just getting too big for his britches!

Trust me - it was hard! And he got brattier before he got better. Demanding more attention and acting out. But it did help. I think it took about 4 days before he started settling down. We have had to go back to this a couple of times over the past several years - actually with BOTH dogs.
