ok, here is my take on this

she is in the US to experience American lifestyle.
Let her adapt and do and eat as Americans do.
Tell her it's ok to let you know if she doesn't like something.
If you do cooking from scratch, it is really not that different from Germany. Heck she is 16 years old, her mum probably doesn't even know how to cook............. most younger people here don't know how to use a stove.
I wouldn't be suprised if she tells you they don't cook at home. Why don't you ask her about it, what they usually eat at home.
The only thing we Germans do differenty is BREAKFAST!
We like our fresh bread/rolls in the morning, some like it sweet with Nutella and jam, others eat cheese and cold cuts. Also something you need to ask her.
The bread in the US was the only "issue" I had and I ended up baking it myself, until I found a German bakery close by.

There is really not much I can tell you except being yourself and let her adapt to your schedule. Do not try to bend backwards to always accommodate her needs; this will only cause stress for you and she will know you are stressed out because of her.
Give all of you some time to find out how you tick.

Let me know how it goes. Feel free to e-mail me directly. I may not check the zoo immediately and may miss your post.

you can also ask Anna to e-mail me or may be we can skype if she has some questions she may not want to ask you directly.
