Moses has gone to the rainbow Bridge
Mon Oct 1, 2018 11:01pm

I have not posted here in a very long time.I began my doodle journey here 12 1/2 years ago and I wanted to let those who I knew from years ago about Moses passing.
My first puppy mill rescue Moses passed on September 26th 2018. He would have turned 14 years old in November. He was my pride and joy and I am heartbroken. I miss him so much, but I know how lucky I am to have lived with him. He was diagnosed with liver and lung Cancer March 2017.
Moses was a Goldendoodle. He inspired me to adopt 3 more puppy mill survivors.
Moses has been the most inspirational dog I ever met. He came from one of the worst puppymills in Lancaster, PA. It had been closed down in 2005 by the court for its horrible conditions ; being closed down was rare so long ago. Despite the neglect and abuse he suffered, he had a special kind loving light in his eyes that connected with people instantly. The strength of his spirit helped him overcome all the adversity he experienced.
I have never seen a soul so pure and so loving. He would peacefully break up fights between dogs, cats, people and dogs, etc. He would stand in between them and stop the fight. He was natural as a Therapy dog and got certified in 2007. His purpose and mission in life was healing and helping people. Like drug sniffing dogs find drugs, he knew who was suffering, sad, sick or lonely. Although he always greeted everyone, he could sense who was suffering. Then he would behave almost magically in attempting to heal them.
Moses completed at least 500 therapy visits with me over the 11 years he was a Therapy dog. He was in the newspaper many times. I wrote a children’s story about him and he had a ‘following’. He healed even when not on official visits.
Below is just one example of his helping while not on an official therapy visit..
When Moses first got diagnosed with Cancer we were at the Vet Hospital waiting for consults with various speciality Vets . Moses greeted everyone in the lobby as he always does. However, he spotted a man who he devoted his time to in- between our consult appointments. We were there for hours as was this man and Moses kept seeking him out and expressing his love and concern.
The man then told me that he had recently lost his only child in a car accident. His cat had then become the most important part of his life. His cat was very seriously ill and being treated in the hospital. He said that when he first sat down he was in a severe state of anxiety and felt that he could not breathe. Moses calmed him and relaxed him so much that he said now he was able to breathe. He said that he wished he could take him home since he was so amazingly therapeutic for him.
Moses did a therapy visit just a few days before he died. I think Moses lived longer than expected because he had such a strong purpose in life to help and heal people.
Moses saw an alternative Vet every 2 weeks. She has a very busy practice. She wrote,…. “ I love you and Moses and I am eternally grateful that I was able to be a part of his incredible life. I do not think I will ever meet another dog like him. He was not a dog but an evolved consciousness in dog form.”
