he had optic neuritis in his left optic nerve--took 3 mos and lots of running around and appts to figure it out and by the time they sent us to a neurologist it was too late to do anything as the nerve was permanently damaged :( so he has a quadrant that has limited to no vision in his left __keep in mind he is a machinist and vision is key to him doing his job...we were also told at the time that 50% of those with optic neuritis develop MS within 5 yrs -we are out of that window now but the symptoms have returned in his right eye. We have no medical insurance and our primary care doc is being an a$$!!! pardon my language took 2.5 hours to call back -won't give a referral to a neuro (ours retired) We have an appt with our eye dr today at 2:30 and are hoping that if he does another scan of the retina he will be able to see the optic nerve as well and can diagnose it so we can start the steroids right away and maybe save the right eyes full vision---he can't work if he can't see!! :(((( I am scared and angry and frustrated! we are working on getting a new doc as soon as we get thru this!
good news is just got word that we can do what we need to and take it out of dad's estate to pay for it :) so at least we can pay if we can get a doc to listen and take us seriously cuz apparently our dr doesn't care :(((
ok done venting off to pick up dh and take him to the dr
