this morning and returned with a diagnosis of Dermodex!!!!! Immediately she said she thought and hoped it was SIMPLE Dermodex; did a scraping and looked at it, came back in smiling because she knew how nuts I've been over NOT knowing. So I have some ointment to use once a day for 30 days and then a re-check. It is NOT contagious (Vicky...but you probably already know that); all dogs have it and sometimes it just takes hold and gets worse left untreated. It does make me mad that the other vet did NOT even suggest it...a month ago...but I'm thankful it hasn't bothered Yindi in any way.
I'm going to have some fruit juice, sit for 30 minutes or so and then bathe Yindi and when she's dry, apply the ointment. The vet said to be sure to wash *my* hands since it's absorbed through the skin. I'll use a little make-up spatula as I don't want it around the GKs etc. At the office, YIndi did pretty good. Three little Bichons came out snarling at every dog and that set Yindi off. She did not warm up to the vet tech for some reason but after a few cautious barks at the other vet, whom she's never seen, she was fine every time she came in and out of the room.
