Fur gets oily quickly.

The fur of one of my own mini schnauzers gets oily quickly. She goes to the groomer once every 6-8 weeks and I bathe her once every two weeks. Her oily fur returns in about 3-4 days after each bath/grooming. I use this shampoo --- TropiClean Oxy-Med Oatmeal Shampoo --- to bathe her and use bath towels to soak up as much water as possible. Then I place her in a large wire kennel and use a hair blow dryer, at the low heat speed, to dry her fur further. Because I bathe her more often than what I do to my others, I try to be careful not to cause dry skin issues on her. She is 9 and gets her blood work check once every 6 months. She is healthy except that she is on liver supplements to keep her alkaline phosphatase value low. She eats fish-based food and takes a fish oil capsule every morning. I really would like to bathe her at least once a week because her fur gets oily so quickly. Sometimes, She does not smell too great also. My vet says to keep doing what I am doing and accept the fact that her fur gets oily quickly). Anything suggestion on how to keep her fur less oily? (She was a owner surrender case and got out of a local kill shelter last August, so I do not know the kind of care, if any, she got before that time).

For my oily-skinned mini, I am still using the salicylic acid shampoo as I described in December. Her skin is much better, but her coat is still unpleasantly oily in less than 2 weeks. So in case the ... more
