Volunteer Opportunities

As we move forward in developing the Districtís volunteer program, we have been investigating tools to help us effectively engage our community of volunteers. One of the tools we would like to try out is the use of the online platform Meetup, a free social media website that connects people with shared interests. With Meetup, we have created a private online community that allows you to meet and interact with other volunteers, find out about upcoming volunteer events and their details, express your interest and RSVP to attending an event, suggest ideas for other events, and more!

While joining Meetup is not required, we encourage you to check out our new Meetup group to see if it is a good fit for you. Sign up is quick, easy, and free - to join, create an account using either your email or Facebook account. From there you can begin to investigate our Meetup group and even join other groups in the community that you might be interested in. For those of you with smartphones, there is also a free, user-friendly Meetup app that you can use to keep up to date through your mobile.

To check out or join our Meetup Group, The District of North Van Natural Parkland Volunteer Team, visit

About Meetup and your Privacy: The DNV natural parkland volunteer Meetup group is private, which means that only other members who have joined the group can see your profile, and you can control how much (or how little) information those other members see. However, as with other social media sites -- such as Facebook and LinkedIn -- MeetUp's web servers are located in the United States, and so any personal details you provide when creating your account or using the site will not be protected by Canadian privacy laws, and will be subject to US privacy laws.

If you decide that Meetup is not for you, we will still be sending out email updates about volunteer events and other volunteer-related information, including our seasonal newsletters.

Please feel free to contact me via phone or email if you have any further questions. We appreciate any feedback that you might have so that we can improve your volunteer experience.

Have a fantastic Thanksgiving weekend!
