To Anonymous Hmmm Suggest you check and confirm FACTS before you make such uninformed comments. I have Standard Smooth Dachshunds who do not have conditions such as PRA. This applies to Miniature Longs & Miniature Smooths NOT Standard Smooths, so AGAIN, no testing required or available for my dogs. Epilepsy in Dachshunds is not a confirmed herediary disease so can't be tested in Dachshunds and the other conditions ie Dental Issues, Cushings, Thyroid, Cataracts, Allergies etc can only be tested if or when they present as per every other pure bred or cross bred dogs. Unlike America, in Australia, we do not breed for 'colour' and therefore do not produce blind or deaf puppies either which results from some Piebald and Double Dapple matings. Again my question was not posted to you and is irrelevant to my question to Peggy. In 28 years I have had one Dachshund with Cushings Disease - this was a rescue dog I retained and who lived until she was 13 years old. Please get educated and deal with facts and only reply if you can answer my original question to Peggy.
