I'm trying an experiment tonight -- I took a roughly 14 oz sirloin (that had a touch of freezer burn to it), and marinated it all day in olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and Montreal steak seasonings. Lenita had the oven fire up to bake a couple of potatoes, so I took a covered baking dish and covered the bottom with sliced red onion, then drizzled that with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, and a handful of bacon crumbles. After the potatoes were about halfway done, we turned the oven down to 325F, and I put the marinated steak on top of the bed of onions, covered it, and put it in the oven. I know, I know, BAKING a steak might get my "meat and fire guy" card revoked, but the way my kitchen smells right now, it just might be worth it....
