An involuntary cringe resulted from the crash of the fallen chair. It had not been terribly loud, but it pierced the serene environment, booming suddenly before fading away. As of late, Olivia had reached a reflective phase, where past demons came to play once more, reminding her of where she had been. The thud was too similar to long gone moments for her subconscious to handle peacefully, and as she flinched, a painful memory flashed before her closed eyes.

She felt the weight in her hands lessen, and brown eyes reemerged to find Demitri was gently removing the books from her grasp, repositioning them on the table. Olivia bit her lip and said nothing, watching intently as he circled behind her. She did not know where he was going or what he was doing, and the uncertainty worried her.

But he was adjusting her chair. “Please. Do sit back down.” She did as he asked, anxiousness silencing her into obedience. Demitri spoke more, blaming himself for the entire awkward affair and offering to leave himself. The Draco sat facing the table, not looking at him as he spoke, but when he finished, she turned over her shoulder to him, placing her hand on top of his where they remained on the back of her chair.

“Please don’t go,” she requested. “I like your company. I really do. I just… did not want to be in your way.” The brunette grew up out of place and therefore tended to worry whether or not her presence was actually wanted in a given situation. It was certainly something about which she tended to be sensitive. “You can sit back down, if you’d like.”

“Or,” she added nervously, once again chewing her lower lip, her thumb absentmindedly stroking his hand, “If you would prefer, maybe I could show you around the school? Have you been to Pearl Street yet?” Olivia became suddenly aware of her hand and retracted quickly, a scarlet blush returning to her cheeks. It occurred to her briefly that she might have effectively just asked him out, and while that was not her intent, she could not say she terribly minded the idea.

“O-oh, no. The honor’s, um, all mine," If Demitri hadn’t already been blushing, he certainly would have started then. He was afraid for a split second that Olivia saw through him, that maybe she had... more

      • “Please don’t go,” Demitri let out a breath of relief, one he hadn’t realized he was holding, at the girl’s words. He would have left if she’d asked him too, maybe he would have just moved to another ... more
