Kejan was not the sort of girl who willingly loaned out her notes to absent classmates. It was their own fault for missing class, and missing class obviously meant that they didn’t care about their grades, so then why should she take any interest in them? The likelihood that she would help them get ahead when she had put so much effort into her own studies was minimal. She wouldn’t even help her brother; she forcibly dragged him to class when she could and otherwise he was on his own. Served him right, really. For this reason, she wasn’t exactly impressed by Jesse’s explanation that he befriended smart people so that he could borrow their notes. But from what she had seen of him previously and right now, he didn’t come across as being like her brother. Unlike Kašpar, Jesse was a proper Pureblood and wouldn’t skip classes on a whim.

Mentally brushing over the comment of borrowing notes, she decided to let it slide and instead turned her attention to the much more appealing part of his statement. “You tink I am pretty?” she echoed, pale skin unable to hide the light blush heating up her cheeks. Oh, Kejan knew she was pretty, just as well as she knew she was smart, as she had worked hard for both of those titles. Studying kept her at the top of their class, dancing kept her slim and in shape, and the etiquette lessons from her mother kept her postured appropriately, incessantly aware of her appearance from the moment she got up to choose her outfit in the morning to the moment she returned to her dorm and unbraided her hair. Still, she blushed and smiled at him gratefully (just another smile would have to do; she’d already said “thank you” too many time in this conversation); acknowledgement was never unappreciated.

He was moving to leave the booth now and the blonde was turning to say goodbye, when suddenly he stopped. And then he asked her out on a date. To a Muggle theatre, no less, but still - a date! It caught her completely off-guard, hazel eyes widening in surprise. Dating was something Kejan had thought about, only idly. Her father probably didn’t care, but she knew that her mother intended for her to be betrothed, eventually, which sort of eliminated the opportunity for dating. She wasn’t betrothed yet, though, and going on a date would be nice. ‘And dating Jesse...’ Nodding, she answered, “I vould like to go on a date vith you. But movies are so... mundane. I do not really enjoy zhem.” Technically she hadn’t actually seen a movie before, but of course she wouldn’t enjoy it; she hardly liked being on the Muggle street to begin with! “But I vill give it a chance eef you are the zhe one taking me - and eef ve go out for someting aftervards. Ice cream, maybe,” she suggested, a bit hopefully. Ice cream was a rare treat for her, and she felt she could put up with some dumb Muggle movie as long as there was such a treat waiting at the end of it. Plus, she didn’t really want Jesse to change his mind about asking her out.

Jesse couldn’t help but want to touch the girl’s hair. She was smart and pretty. Plus, she was a Pureblood and Uncle Sandro would be happy that Jesse was making friends with Purebloods. When she... more
