Evander, as the boy introduced himself, was apparently researching for the upcoming Talent Show. “Oh,” she exclaimed, reaching out to shake his hand. “That’s- nice.” She had almost forgotten about it, but now she remembered. She did not know if the booth crew would have to do much, but for course, some student could ask for some special lighting or visual effects. In which case, she, the erstwhile booth monkey, would have to be there. Now that Keith had graduated, and no one else had signed up she was not on such a tight leash, but it also meant she was pretty much in charge of the entire booth. DH Tennant had given her permission to employ Milo Sarkes or Zakir Adir for help, but they both knew that was not gonna happen. Not only was she not competent enough to run the booth on her own, but she would also never ask the two morons to help her.

“Good choice,” she said, indicating the magazines, “But I don’t know how many would appreciate you portraying a Muggle musician.” She was sure the Pureblood bunch was too snooty to admit to knowing they knew JT, even if they had heard his music.

“But anyway,” she said, putting up her hands. “I’m sure you’d give a solid performance. I’m working at the booth, so let me know if you need any special effects. With these shows, I’m pretty sure a good visual effect would give you an edge.” What she didn’t know, though, was that why she was offering to help him win. She was a technician, she wasn’t supposed to be partial or wishing a particular contestant would win. What could she possibly gain if Evan won, or stand to lose if he didn’t? Puberty is confusing! She thought to herself.

Rebecca started sifting through the pages of the spell book, not really looking, but pretending to be actually interested in it. “So, Evan. Do you always hang out in the Ref Centre?” she asked, casually. He probably did, she thought, because I never saw him at the Rec Centre or the Pearl Street. She hoped he would say no, because if he did always chill out in the library, chances were she would not meet him soon again. Not that that mattered, of course!
