Success! Seth thought gleefully as he managed to snag the hair tie while Aerin was distracted. Her apparent annoyance at the two boys seemed to fade as she laughed at his antics instead of yelling at him again. Either reaction was fine in the eyes of the attention seeking muggleborn, so long as her attention was on him and not the stuck up brat next to him, Seth was happy.
Seth twirled the tie on his finger as he pretended to read, easily snatching it out of reach when ever Aerin made an attempt to swipe it. Each successful evasion made his grin grow a notch. But it dimmed slightly when he noticed her eyes stray more often to the brooding boy than him. He snorted softly as he waited for her to focus on her assignment. Finding the perfect opportunity was difficult seems she kept looking at the little Zakiboo, but eventually she got distracted by trying to keep her parchment from rolling up.
Seizing the opportunity, Seth turned ever so slightly in his chair and kicked Zakir’s ankle under the table. It was childish in the extreme, but he knew from long years with sisters that it could be very effective as an aggravent while under the parents’ watchful eyes at the dinner table. Who ever yelled at the other first always got in trouble and lost. Let’s see just how much the little puppy can take before he bites back Seth thought gleefully. That would teach the little snot not to be such a jerk all the time.
