Marissa had just finished off an order for new books when her house elf Ferby had appeared in the room distraught and trembling. As soon as the word ‘fight’ left his lips, the librarian had been on her feet, wand in hand. Her robes billowed behind her as she strode quickly to the scene of the crime.
She was unsurprised to Seth Jackson there – it hadn’t taken her long to pinpoint him as a troublemaker last term. The stinging hex on his face looked painful, and Marissa grimaced when she saw it. I will see you at the circulation desk at five.” Marissa silenced Aerin’s forthcoming complaint with a sharp look and then turned to Seth. “We’re going to go to the Medic now, Seth. Kris will need to have a look at you, and I’m sure she’ll be able to help you with the pain. Come along.”

Seth scowled when Aerin actually began telling the librarian what really happened… in a meandering sort of way. There were enough holes in her story that he might be able to get them out of this. It... more
