Oliver definitely knew what Monet meant when she said that she didn't like studying when someone told her to. It was sort of like an inherent feeling in every kid, he guessed. That desire to rebel when being told what to do. He could relate to Monet on different levels, but he just didn't like to study. He pretty much did it because the professors told him to. Otherwise he probably wouldn't bother and would flunk out of school or something. Of course, Oliver did have some pride too so he wouldn't have let himself flunk out anyway.
All that thinking wasn't making much sense in his hyper brain. He was in the act of opening a box of Nerds when Monet asked him the most absurd yet fascinating question ever. Could he climb a bookcase? The thought had never occurred to Ollie before, and he almost spilled the box in his eagerness to try it.
"I bet I could," he said, grinning from ear-to-ear. "I'm really good at climbing trees and stuff. I bet a bookcase wouldn't be hard!" He had never tried doing such a thing in his life and now he wondered why. "Let's try it!" he said, this part softer so the librarian wouldn't hear him. He smiled mischievously at Monet and, when the librarian wasn't looking, snuck off towards the rows of bookcases. He looked back to see if Monet was following him, and then stood in front of a tall and wide shelf hidden behind two other rows in front of it. It was two rows from the tables they had been sitting at which Oliver thought was enough to hide their clandestine actions. "We should probably make some footholes," he said, taking some books off the shelf. They would put them back after, sure.
Monet nodded when Oliver mentioned his family was on a tight budget. She knew what it was like to be there. During some parts of the year, The Haunt raked in customers and their money and Monet and... more
