Anyone for a sing along?

The first time he had entered the Finer Diner, Jack hadn’t really taken the time to just observe everything around him. With the four bright bonfires taking up residence in the room, it was much harder to ignore the fact that he was in a magical school. It wasn’t that Jack was unfamiliar with magic, he had grown up surrounded by the impossible but never had he been able to contribute to it.

He allowed some gratitude to sprout up inside him at this point. Maybe he should feel more thankful towards his Mam for giving him this opportunity. There was no way his family would have been hopping across the pond to America any time soon. Perhaps if he looked upon it as a unique experience his parents had gifted to him and not just them making sure they have one less mouth to feed, he would enjoy it all much more. The tour with Cayden had been an eye opener and Jack was grinning in an embarrassingly goofy way. When he became aware of this the eleven year old forced himself to look much more serious and ‘cool’. Because coolness is vital to surviving school- duh.

Jack had almost entirely forgotten about the darkly coloured dreamcatcher he was loosely gripping in his right hand. As an after thought he glanced down at it only to find it was no longer black at all. His had turned a sea green which he knew was for Lyra. He didn’t know enough about the house to begin an analysis on his place as apart of it and so decided to merely accept it. He bounded along to the green flames and skidded to a halt at the last moment. The heat of the bonfire reflected off his face and Jack was almost upon it. With a shaky laugh he settled down beside another student.

“D’you know if we could roast some marshmallows over this thing?” he inquired after noticing the camping theme was still an ongoing thing.

Then continuing on this line of thought the Irish boy added, "Or perhaps we should just start a sing along instead?"
