On second thought...

“No, please!”

Brown eyes closed and shoulders slumped ever so slightly at the words spoken beseechingly by the girl. A hand caught his own, and he turned around to meet the brown eyes. Demitri felt so drawn to her that he couldn’t help but forget what he had been thinking just moment earlier. He swore it was irrational, he shouldn’t feel this way about someone he had only know for a few short months. They didn’t really even know anything about each other. Everything in him was telling him to keep walking, to keep distance between himself and the girl, but the plead that met his ears gave him pause while filling him with unbridled hope.

“I-I didn’t mean-… I didn’t mean to upset you. I’m sorry, I-I just-…”

Each stuttered word made Demitri feel even worse about his previous actions. He’d overreacted to the situation and in turn he had hurt someone he had come to care about. In any other circumstance he would be apologizing himself, but he knew that Olivia wouldn’t let him take any of the blame. A part of her clearly believed that any type of bad occurrence was her own fault, that she deserved it, and it made Demitri mad. He would take all the blame if he could, it was his fault and the only thing keeping him from ridiculing himself was the hand gripping his own and the words that still spilled from Olivia’s mouth.

“… I don’t know. Please don’t go.”

He wasn’t going anywhere, at least, not this time. His feet were frozen in place as he stood in front of the beautiful girl, his heart pounding in his ears. His own eyes stared into the eyes that were so similar to his own all while Demitri’s mind raced. Words failed him, as they always did when he needed them the most and he could feel the frustration like it was rolling off of him in waves. He didn’t know what to do, but it seemed like he was already functioning on autopilot. He wasn’t thinking as he did things, he just did them. Using the grip that she had on his arm, he pulled her forward, free hand reaching out to side around the back of her neck. He kept pulling her towards him, his eyes locked with hers up until the moment that he kissed her.
