Alannah Pendergast and Professor de Villers
Daughters of Morgana Part I
Tue Mar 4, 2014 15:21

Alannah Pendergast stood in the Defense Against the Dark Arts room perplexed. She had needed somewhere for the Daughters of Morgana to meet but the defense room was an odd choice. Yet, she had finally relented in asking the Professor if she could use his room, and if he would be their advisor as every club needed one, when Papa had said that Professor de Villiers was an upstanding Pureblood in the international community. The Professor had agreed if and only if he didn’t have to attend every meeting.

This had worked out well for most of the term until today, the Professor hadn’t even attended one meeting, and yet now he was sitting at his desk working hard. She didn’t want to interrupt him but the girls did tend to get a bit loud when the gossip started flying. She shifted from foot to foot trying to get up the nerve to speak to the intimidating Professor.

Emilian de Villiers, had seen the red headed girl enter his Defense room, he had also known what day it was when he decided to grade papers in his classroom. Emilian had watched his classes day in and day out for potential, and while the young Pendergast lad was unfit for what he needed, Alannah Pendergast was perfect. She was angry at her brother for paying attention to the girl he had been betrothed to, and she was angry at her father for herself being betrothed. She was smart, and gifted with a wand if she would apply herself, she wanted someone to lead her and Emilian was just the person to do so. He would just have to push her just a bit.

“Miss. Pendergast.” He said, his French accent thickening when he said her last name. “Move away from the door and come and speak to me if you need to.” The redhaired girl moved slowly, nervously towards her Professor. Emilian passed a glance over her and scowled a bit. “Oui?”

Alannah took a deep breath in and quickly exhaled. “Professor, you’ve let the DoM, I mean the Daughters of Morgana use your room every other Saturday all term and this is one of those. Should I find a new room for today to let you work?”

Emilian leaned back in his chair and looked up at the clock. “I will adjourn from the room Miss. Pendergast when it is your normal meeting time. For now you may set up.” With a flick of his hand he set her to work. She worked quickly and proficiently all the tables were set up in a circle, with chairs on the outside. A house elf appeared when she called with tea kettles and snacks.

“Forgive me if I’m wrong Miss. Pendergast, but isn’t the DoM supposed to be more then tea parties and gossip? I always thought the DoM was for our smartest Pureblood ladies who know how to use their brains for the greater good of Purebloods everywhere. It seems to me that you let anyone claiming to be a Pureblood into your Daughter of Morgana.” Emilian said after watching her work for a bit.

Alannah turned towards the Professor. “Yes, Professor but...”

“No butts Miss. Pendergast the girls will follow their leader. You set the tone for the meetings not anyone else.” Emilian said as he began to clean up his papers.

Alannah swallowed hard. “I don’t want to make this a study club, I want the DoM to be fun!”

“I’m not saying make it a study club, Miss. Pendergast. I’m saying use this time to expand your minds. Learn about something RMI doesn’t teach, there’s plenty of books in this room that would be in any other school’s restricted section.” Emilian said with a sweep of his arm at his book shelves.

“Professor I...” she began and Emilian arched a brow.

“There’s a rather decent book on secrets in the wizarding world, right next to you. It’s a good place to start. Might wanna read up on the the person your club is named after. Remember Miss. Pendergast their is a world of spells RMI doesn’t allow me to teach, you might do better in the World if you know them.” With that the Professor left the room and Alannah stood there shaking a bit.

Did a Professor just tell her to learn evil things? No, the Professor was giving her an opportunity to really learn. He was right other schools taught them these spells! RMI students were lacking and wouldn’t perform well without knowing them. The second year reach over and grabbed the book the Professor had indicated and began to read about Morgana.

When other girls arrived Alannah announced. “This won’t be a gossip club anymore, we are going to learn! So enjoy your tea and snacks today our next meeting we will be learning.” She hoped this kept everyone else who would tattle on them away. She turned to the person next to her and smiled wanting to tell the girl all about the conversation with the Professor but she figured she should wait till she trusted them a bit more.
