Gabriel paused as he realized that it wasn't a person he was talking to - at least, not the ones he was used to conversing with. There had once been a ghoul in his house but his father had driven it off, and at the orphanage there had been plenty of ghosts but it had been awhile since Gabriel had conversed with one. He knew Renée hated them. Ghosts reminded her of death; a subject she both loathed and was obsessed with. Even when she was younger she would talk about it excessively. It could be quite a downer.

For Gabriel himself, the thought of ghosts comforted him. He was planning on being one himself, as the thought of an eternity of unconsciousness didn't quite appeal to him.

"Yeah, I play chaser." Gabriel leaned back slightly on his broom. Now that he looked the ghost over a bit more, he noticed he wasn't quite as transparent as he expected. Poltergeist, maybe?

The ghost-thing asked he wanted to have a friendly game of catch the snitch. Gabriel smiled slightly surprised. "Yeah, sure. I... I didn't know people like you could touch stuff." He wasn't sure people was the correct term, but whatever. He was about to ask the ghost-thing what its classification was exactly, but decided he didn't really care. Today was about satisfying his need for flying.

"Okay, three seconds then we go off." He stretched out his hand and the snitch, perhaps sensing its impending release, stilled its wings. Gabriel spread his fingers. The snitch bobbed slightly against his palm, then shot off.

One... Two... Three.

"Try to keep up!" Gabriel laughed as he leaned forward and shot after the golden ball, his eyes searching for that elusive golden glint.

Laeche grinned. "Yes, well, when you're as old as I am you tend to learn a trick or two," he told the boy with a wink. "I'm sort of a freak among my own kind." He bobbed closer and poked him. "See?... more

Gabriel laughed, as if the thought of him dying so soon, so young, was preposterous. In many ways, though he was now twenty, he was very childlike. He still thought that, no matter what he did, he... more
