On the scheming or the Snitching?
Sat Nov 13, 2010 15:29

Laeche grinned. "Yes, well, when you're as old as I am you tend to learn a trick or two," he told the boy with a wink. "I'm sort of a freak among my own kind." He bobbed closer and poked him. "See? If I was any kind of real ghost, I'd be reaching into your lungs right about now."

He waited patiently for the boy to release the Snitch, a part of his brain still debating whether or not to actually play a game or just duck into the shed while the boy was occupied. "Wait, is it three already?" he said distractedly as the boy sped forwad. Yup, definitely three. Laeche sighed, the faintest of smiles making its way onto his face. This should be fun.

Kicking up his heels, he dove after the boy, flying parallel to the ground as the wind helped carry him along. He soon caught up and rolled over onto his back, following along just below the boy's broom as his eyes scoured the sky around them for the Snitch.

"Y'know, people are always telling me to keep up," he remarked conversationally to the boy above him. "They seem to think that just because I'm getting older, I must be getting slower too. But what they can't understand is that people like you age quite differently from people like me." Peeking around, he spied the tiny golden ball in front of them, just a bit below and to his left. Raising his arms above his head with a huge fake yawn before stretching them behind his back, he got ready to grab the Snitch as they passed it.

Three, two, one.. and the ball flew right through his hand. He blinked after it a moment, surprised, before narrowing his eyes in frustration. No wonder he didn't feel cold anymore; his concentration must have slipped while he was occupied with flying. Laeche cursed loudly, immediately flipping onto his stomach and shooting straight through the boy in pursuit of the stupid golden ball. He didn't particularly care about winning, per se. He just didn't want to lose.
