..did you really have to get that offensive?

Despite Edwards' almost pathetically awesome pass to her, he was now playing much better and was steadily gaining on their goalhoops. But Kerrie wasn't one easily outraced. She sped after him, planning to either intercept the Quaffle after he threw it or simply ram into him when she was close enough, whichever opportunity presented itself first.

This plan was sadly disrupted by the untimely appearance of a Bludger. Kerrie tore her eyes away from Edwards' back in the moment before it hit her to see the deceivingly tiny Beater Chapman behind it. Then all she could see and feel was fire running up her arm and spreading across her ribs as the Bludger smashed into her side. She gritted her teeth at the pain, unwillingly slowing down and turning away from Edwards, but refusing to let a single sound escape her lips. The boys would never let her hear the end of it if she had to skip out on the match this early on.

Blood was soaking her robes and freezing along the handle of her broom. She paused briefly in her flying to tuck her broken arm protectively into her chest, but she soon sped up again, trying to catch up with her teammates. Even if she'd already lost the chance for now to regain the Quaffle, she might still be able to help them. She had a terrible left-handed throw, but she could definately get in the way of some unfortunate Fireball, at least.

Chris won't be too pleased about this, she mused. So much for "stay out of trouble". Well, if there was one thing she knew about her not-so-subtle admirer, he wouldn't be letting this slip by. He kept a close eye on her; after flying with him on the team for the past couple years, she knew without a trace of doubt that he would drop whatever he was doing and hunt down Chapman for her. Though some days she might laugh with him about things like that and tell him to focus on his own part in the game, today she desperately hoped he had seen what had happened and who had done it. Merlin, that Bludger had hurt.
