Darla Applerose
I'm with you there

Darla sniffed and recognised Matt as he walked blindly through the rain. He seemed carefree right now, walking through the rain. The last time she'd met him, well, the first time too, he'd seemed more uptight than his brother. But she had taken a liking to him, though she hesitated in approaching him, she in an emotional state and he seemingly wanting to be alone. She approached him anyway. She didn't want to be alone right now.

"Matt," she called over the storm. "It's me, Darla." She moved over to him, her boots squishing in the mud. For once, she wanted to feel what mud felt like squishing between her toes, so she sat down next to him and began pulling off her boots. Once her dragonhide boots were off as well as her socks, she touched the cold mud with her feet, feeling them sink as the brown mud engulfed them.

"What are you doing out here?" she asked, trying not to make her voice sound thick with tears, though he probably could sense it anyway. Darla took a deep breath to calm herself before turning to face him. She pushed her soaking hair away from her equally wet face. It was hard to breathe, she found.

Her chest was still heaving from her sobs earlier, and she took deep breaths of air before facing the sky to let the downpour of rain wash her face. She wished it could just wash it all away. If the rain water was only the Fountain of Youth, then perhaps her grandfather would live. Just let him outside in the wet for a moment and he'd live. Oh Merlin, how she wished for that.

Insanity. Darla let out a breath. That was the right word for everything. "Yes," she agreed. "Everything's maddening these days." She sniffed, trying to control her voice. She didn't want to start... more
