Elly Eriksson
Quidditch Practise!
Sun Mar 6, 2011 14:01

The sort of squeaking sound that Elly had made having discovered she'd been named Quidditch captain was really not appropriate for her age. A six year old might just about have been able to get away with it, but Elly had let her excitement get the better of her, and she hadn't heard who'd cared. Admittedly she hadn't captained a Quidditch team for the past two years, but she didn't think it was the sort of thing that you forgot how to do without practise. Besides, practically the entire team were Elly's friends - there was only Caliz she couldn't really call a friend, because she never spoke to him outside of classes or Quidditch, but she got the impression that he wasn't really a chatty person. Nevertheless, she would make it her aim this year to get to know him a little better than she did already.

In her excitement, Elly had already spoken with Coach Green, and had booked their first practise for only a week after the team had been announced. She'd borrowed some practise balls and had asked the team to sort out their broomsticks before they got to practise - for those who didn't own their own to borrow from the university's stores. The other equipment she's acquired included their new team robes for the year, which were currently stacked in a neat pile on the front of the spectator stands. Elly didn't think they needed the robes fro practises all the time, but she'd try a couple wearing them before their frist game just so people got used to flying in robes. For the time being, Elly was wearing her usual black sweatpants and Quidditch pumps, and she had on a black cami underneath a blue cotton jacket. Her long orange curls had been forcibly restrained into a tight braid to keep her hair out of her face while flying. In short, she was ready for practise.

As the other team members arrived Elly greeted them jovially, and somewhat excitedly. When everyone had gathered she called the group together. "Okay, everyone," she said loudly and with a wide smile. "Coach Green is going to come to our practises about half the time to give his professional input" - it was still so exciting to have a professional player as their coach - "but we're still going to have one practise a week where it's just going to be us. So, welcome to our first practise. Your new team robes are just over there," she gestured to the neat pile, "so remember to pick yours up before you go." As last year the robes were black, but instead of each player's surnmae being splashed across the back in gaudy silver, there was just silver stitching outlining black letters, which, in Elly's humble opinion, was far more tasteful. The universtity crest and the Roaring Fireballs badge were embroidered on the front left of each robe.

"If you need to warm up before we start, feel free to do a couple of warm up laps. Otherwise we'll start with Keeper and Beater practise. Hyana, protect the left hoops, guys," here she referred to Hector, Patrick and Gabriel, "see if you can confuse her into missing any." She assumed that as the assistant captain Gabriel would stop Hector and Hyana from getting into any disagreements, and he'd also be in a position to offer constructive criticism to help improve their performance. Taking the Quaffle from its box she threw it in the general of the Chasers, before turning to Liana and Calix. "Let's see how well you guys work together," she said. "I'll cast a rubber repel charm on myself just in case, but I want you to work with one Bludger and see if you can work as a team to hit me." the Seeker grinned. She was fast, and this was her ninth year playing the position that required her to move quickly to catch the Snitch. "All I can say is good luck."

"Has any got any questions?" Elly asked ocne she'd given the instructions. "If not we'll get started, and reconvene in twenty minutes to work on other skills."
