Gabriel Errant {SUM Chaser}
I did but it came from our side.
Sat May 14, 2011 11:14

The first thing he did when he woke up (and for once he wasn't late; an alarm clock, a screeching owl, and water charmed to splash on his face all in order to ensure that he wouldn't embarrass himself in front of Arlette) was to fall back to sleep again. He rolled around a bit in bed, not caring that his soaked face was dampening the sheets, only that the bedding was still so soft, and warm, and he was comfortable. The knowledge that he could stay in that certain comfort for as long as he wanted... the knowledge that all he had to do to keep that comfort was close his eyes and go back to dreaming, just keep dreaming...

He slept.

Ten minutes before game time he was stumbling around in his apartment off campus, jumping from the shower (he saved time by brushing his teeth while the water ran hot, cold, hot, too hot(!) over his body) to the fridge where he gulped down orange juice, lemonade, and milk, back to the bathroom, again to the shower just to feel the soothing of his muscles under the running water, to the closet, brushing hair furiously out of his eyes, trying to find his robes (pulling them on, then taking them off after having forgotten to wear something underneath them) until he was miraculously ready with only two minutes to spare.

He spun on his heel and apparated into the field, grinning at his team. After looking them over he paused and his fingers grasped the air by his side. "Oh..." He blinked and disapperated, arriving back at his apartment. "Where are you...?" The broom was lying propped up against his bed. Gabriel laughed and grabbed the elm wood self made broom that had served him so well these past few years. "Show time." He spun on his heel and assured any worried passerby that he was actually here to stay this time.

Joining his team he rubbed his hands and whispered to Liana (because of his own personal bubble of joy, he thought everyone else' paled in comparison which explained why he overreacted whenever he caught her not smiling, or not smiling as wide as he thought necessary) "Are you excited? Because I'm totally excited!" He looked over towards the Boardhounds, catching a glimpse of Jian Wong before his gaze traveled the length of the opposing team. He was as impressed as anybody by the other chaser's achievements. But it took three chasers to make one look good. The whole team was to be revered, not just the individual.

The captains shook, and Gabriel swung his leg over his broom, hyped up and looking around the stadium, trying to get a glimpse of friends. When he thought he caught sight of a few people he'd invited from town he gave a wave before turning the rest of his attention toward the game. All the players kicked off and Gabriel rose quickly through the air, grinning as Patrick leaped on the Quaffle first. Pretty blonde chaser intercepted, passed to Wong who was intercepted by Hector who passed to Patrick who gave the signal for one of the plays they all went over in practice.

He turned his broom around and shot off after Patrick (idly appreciating the fact that he'd gone out and gotten a better broom) easily pulling up beside them, slightly surprised that Patrick deemed it suitable to shove it in his arms. Sure, it greatly lessened the chances of interception, but it also slowed them down somewhat (Quidditch time moved faster than normal time) and Gabriel had always perceived the move as overly defensive. Interceptions were half the fun tinged frustration of Quidditch. And there was a greater joy in getting one past another chaser than avoiding the challenge. 'And maybe seeking a challenge is why you fail so much.' He laughed at himself and continued on with the play.

He locked eyes with the boardhound keeper, smile playing on his lips. Turning toward the left goal hoops, he raised his arms and thrust it in that direction. Knowing that a good keeper tried their best not to be distracted by the movement of the arm but rather the flash of red that would be the Quaffle, Gabriel let go of his grasp briefly to convince the keeper he wasn't feinting, and then grabbed it before it fell past his chest, making a sharp turn on his broom to lung the Quaffle at Patrick, a direct and strong throw at his broom.
