Gabriel Errant {Chaser}
Still waiting...
Mon May 16, 2011 10:38

Gabriel began to feel the usual impatience that came upon him after minutes of not making contact with the Quaffle. He had never really felt himself play for anybody before, and had to stop looking over at the stands to catch a glimpse of Arlette. It was odd being aware of the audience; usually Quidditch was a brilliant blur of colorful robes and wind, the sounds of the audience fading into the background that meant nothing. He was passed by a succession of chasers and bit his lip, smiling internally and pausing before giving chase. ‘All that training, excitement, anticipation… focus.’ He followed the players back towards the Boardhounds’ end of the pitch, and couldn’t help the laugh that burst out of him at the sight of the keeper blocking Hector’s shot at the hoops. ‘Brilliant move.’ The thought wasn’t sarcastic, he believed that was the keeper’s intention.

Hector intercepted the pass back and Gabriel eyed another Boardhound chaser and dipped below him, ready to spring up and intercept a pass back if either the goal was saved or the Keeper retrieved the Quaffle. His fingers flexed on the handle of his broom, waiting those few seconds for either a goal or save to be made, his mind wandering suddenly to other thoughts and distractions. He had trained hard this season, but he felt inexplicably relaxed (despite his feelings of playing in front of Arlette) and wondered what it meant. The competitiveness was there, somewhere within him but had yet to be awoken. His eyes had a mild playfulness to them; something subtle had changed from the ground to the air. ‘I just need to touch the Quaffle.

The enthusiasm came back and he had a new purpose in mind. The Audience faded, thoughts of its members faded, and his brain whirled in color and thoughts of strategy. He tensed on his broom and waited, suspended between action and inaction and impatient for the latter.
