Philip - Major Ringo connection
Fri Sep 19, 2008 17:37

Tom, I'm in the Philip Ringo line, Vol III. When Philip died at the early age of 35, his wife Margaret and 7 children moved in with her father-in-law, Henry Ringo. and Philip's brother; Major Ringo, Vol V, they all moved to Montgomery Co, Ky, where Henry died in 1803. The children of Philip and Major Ringo lived together and were very close. Major Ringo fought in the war of 1812, along with 2 of his sons. They survivied the bloody massacre in which 400 Kentucky soldiers were scalped and killed on the banks of the Raison River, an event that gave birth to the battle cry "Remember the Raison" Most children of Philip and Major Ringo moved to Wayne and Greene Counties in Indiana.

Realized I inadvertently made an error next to Cornelius Ringo identifying him as the brother of John Peters Ringo, rather, John Peters Ringo was the great-grandson of Major Ringo
