I'm warming up

Sam stared in awe as she walked onto the Quidditch pitch. She had seen the pitch at Hogwarts several times, but the fact that this one was underground completely blew her mind. Not paying attention where she was going, she accidentally ran into the person in front of her.

“Oops, sorry!” she exclaimed. Sam was about to take a step back, but faltered when she saw it was Erin that she had run into. Erin just stared at Sam as if she didn’t know what to say. Sam knew that part of her moodiness came from the move from London this summer, but she didn’t understand why Erin had to take it out on her. They were supposed to be having the time of their lives right now. Before Sam could say anything else, the seemingly grumpy professor began reading off names of partners.

To her dismay, Sam wasn’t paired with Erin or Linden. At least Erin would be with someone who Sam thought seemed really nice. Sam made her way over to tent number three, the whole time hoping her tent mate would be nice.

Sighing, Sam dropped her bag in the middle of the floor. Her heart was heavy as she thought about her family—what were they doing right now? She had never been away from them for so long. All she wanted to do was talk to her father.

She looked up as she heard a rustling from outside the tent. A voice announced itself as Crystal Glause, Sam’s roommate for the week. Crystal stepped into the tent and Sam offered her a small smile. She prayed this girl would be nice.

“I guess we’re roomies. Have you claimed a spot yet?”

Sam shook her head then decided she should probably say something. “No, I just got here as well,” she said, her English accent clear in the silence. “I’m not very picky so you can have whichever bed you want. I’m Sam, by the way. It’s nice to meet you.”

OOC: Sorry it took me so long to respond, I didn’t realize the second part had been posted. Also, godmodding of Erin approved by her author.

Since Sam hadn’t picked out a space yet, Crystal plopped her things down on the cot nearest her. The magical tent was roomy enough, but it still pretty much looked like an ordinary camping tent.... more
