Brian, "New Evidence" is no proof at all, just that two random men had their picture taken together in the late 1800s. Nothing on the photo or where it was found gives evidence other than that.

Now the rest of what you say may have a little truth in it. Both were in Southeast Colorado during the 1884 to 1889 time period. Harry worked not only with his distant cousin George, but also with Georges brother David, and possibly other ranchers around Cortez. So it is possible that Parker and Longabaugh crossed paths, but there is no evidence to say that they did, or didn't, other than proximity.

It is more likely that Bob Parker's brother Dan may have either known, or met Harry while Dan was working for the Carlisle Ranch near Monticello and Longabaugh was working at the Goodman Ranch just over the state line in Colorado. At least that is in closer proximity, and the Goodman and Carlisle ranches had "dealings" with each other. But even that is hard to say, since Harry had already lit a shuck for Wyoming and Montana by 1886 and it is not certain when Dan left home and ended up in Monticello, but it was sometime after Bob had left in 1884. Lulu's maudlin account of Butch and Dan leaving leaving home, and Annie's heartbreak, is short on specifics and long on emotion.

Pat, The New Evidence proves that Robert Parker and Harry Longabaugh were close associates by June of 1889. They likely met in 1885 or 1886 in Southwest Colorado, while Harry lived and worked at his... more

Bob, as well, the idea that Cassidy and Longabaugh might have met in the 1880s is not "new evidence" either. Donna Ernst first raised the idea 25 years ago, in Sundance My Uncle (1992) and repeated... more

Crook Co is in extreme northeast WY on Mt border. Butch was in Fremont Co hundreds of miles away in 1888 .Tax records prove where Butch was at.

Par, thanks, that was my typo. Is the Fremont tax record 1889 or 1888? Dan

the 1889 tax is listed in 1890 records for previous year. But other records show him listed in Fremont Co in 1888. He had purchased cattle and horses and he also is listed in store receipts for... more
