Given what he has said, I infer the answer is NO, he did not see them in person in Kew but was sent copies of them, which he assumed had their genesis in Canada, not the UK.

So he has never seen the originals (I think he is saying) but got copies sent from the archives of wherever they are housed, and may have wrongly thought that was Canada.

Why do we care? What difference does it make if the copies came from Canada or the UK?
Is the point,"someone at the archives may have forged them"? That is so ridiculous as to not even warrant discussing.

If the next concern is that Mark forged them, as I said, all you need to do is get your own copies, compare them to his, and call him to account if there is a difference.

So what is the big issue? I don't get all the energy being expended over this question of whether he saw the originals.

Were you in KEW with Mark? If not then you need to let him answer this one alone.
