with heavy heart

Jack Stroud passed away Sept 9,1017 in Rawlins,WY. He was born Sept 12 ,1942.

Jack, Dan and I are less than a month apart in age.

Speaking to Chris reminded me that I had not seen Jack's death mentioned on this forum.

He was the most prolific newspaper searcher of all time. And he usually did not get credit by other authors. He trolled the papers every day, for many many years.

Much of what we know about the WY outlaws came from Jack.

He was also on Ancestry where he hunted down many of the outlaw families.

He himself descended from the Charter family .Well known outlaws in WY and Colo.

I loved sparring with him on this forum and privately. He was passionate . He was only a few miles from me and came frequently to Lander from Rawlins.

Rest in Peace Jack. Hope you met Butch in the Afterlife.

I went looking for something Jack wrote about one of my ancestors on this forum and found this sad news. Jack was simply fantastic. His efforts are something that will not be replaced.

He had often reached out on my email and we had a rolling dialogue over the last year with exchanges that were fun and interesting. He was a good guy and I will miss him . Sincerely,

Has anyone heard from Colin? This reminds me of the country song " Who's Gonna Take Their Place?"
