Great Falls Tribune - November 23, 1901 "Car, the large Newfoundland dog that was found in the express car of the hod-up near Wagner this last year, was killed by Great Northern train No. 4 yesterday, says the Malta Enterprise. He was supposed to have belonged to a lady on the train, but was not called for after the hold-up. The dog has made his home with Mr. Ebaugh since the hold-up. When struck by the train he was thrown 50 feet from the engine. Mr. Ebaugh says would rather have lost a horse than the dog."
The owner must have been quite traumatized to have left the dog. Sad. RIP Car
