Wrong side of the house

Chris, this is all the wrong side of the house see my original post reprinted here"

Initially I have believed that the Jinetes photo of the riders, and the Tea Party photos were taken on opposite sides of the cabin. That is not so. They were both taken on the same side of the cabin! We have all been looking at this in completely the wrong way. After looking at plans and diagrams of the cabin it became obvious that the cabin had been added on to sometime after the trio moved in and when the riders photo was taken.

When the cabin was first occupied by Sundance and Etta, it was a two room cabin, with the main door to the side and a door opposite, on the same side that entered into the parlor. The only door on the back of the house was directly opposite of the front door. If both doors were open at the same time, you could see right through the house. There was no door on the opposite corner of the house.

Sometime after the trio arrived, they made significant changes and additions to the cabin, most notably, they added a new bedroom to the right of the front door, redid the roof and added the nice picket fence. So now, the door was not on the corner of the house, but closer to the middle, with a window to the right of the door. The layout of the house changed from Parlor/Bedroom, kitchen, to Bedroom, Parlor, Kitchen, giving Sundance and Etta their own bedroom and separate kitchen. Quite an upgrade.

The Tea Party photo was taken before the addition of the bedroom, new roof, and picket fence. The Riders or Jinetes photo was taken after the addition. So Chris, the second addition that you have drawn in, at the first of this thread is on the wrong side of the house, it was on the back side, that was never photographed. The door to the side of the newer addition was also added, cut from the window at that spot. The Tea party photo, when looked at in view of the smaller cabin, everything lines up., door placement, window spacing, etc. This also clears up the corner log placement problems that you pointed out in your previous posts.

This also makes the Tea Party photo older than the Jinetes photo by about three years. It must have been taken not long after the couple moved in, whereas the Jinetes photo was taken not long before they moved out.

By the way, has anyone every really noticed Butch's Batchelor pad cabin on the far right of the Jinetes photo? This is where Butch lived, in his own cabin, apart from Sundance and Etta. This cabin still stands, but was moved some distance away by the Sepulveda family. There were also several other buildings in thier compound when they occupied it.

Dan has a point, it does no good to compare the post 2005 cabin with either of the two early 1900's photos. The cabin was rebuilt. Better to compare the early photos with pre-reconstruction photos.... more

Chris, Let's start at the beginning. You are comparing apples and oranges. You are comparing the early 1900s Wild Bunch cabin with an early 2000s completely reconstructed cabin, using new and old... more

Id really like to hear your excuses for what Ive shown. If you cant do that, step up and admit your wrong. The cabin is not the Butch/SK cabin
      • Cabin now out of the equation ChrisV, Fri Sep 7 6:23pm
No need to look at cabin anymore. If its not their cabin, is it even Butch, SK, and Etta? Hmmmm should I look into that too dan? ;) FYI For Mark* I photoshopped this picture. Its not real.

For clarity , He is correct - the new building and the old original are not the same building - The Tea party photo (image) is as per it's provenance and origin of BC , SK and EP in my opinion.
