July 22, 1897 "Vernal Express" has the original article that the "Salt lake Herald" quoted on July 26th. So the earliest use in the press of the term "Wild Bunch" referring to the Browns Hole/Powder Springs outlaws was in the "Vernal Express" 22 July 1897.
