Alexandria gazed at herself in the mirror for a very long time before finally deciding that she was in fact as perfect as she could possibly make herself. The gown had been specially designed for her by a friend of her mother's. Flown in the from Paris there had been extensive fittings and alterations made before both she and her mother were entirely satisfied with the dress. It was a floor sweeping gown in a deep, midnight blue and made entirely from velvet. It was trimmed with real gold thread that sparkled in the candlelight and reflected dancing golden rays across the floor. Around her neck was the pendandt that Van had given her some weeks before. Yes, everything was perfect.

She went down the stairs and into the common room where Van was waiting for her. He seemed a little out of sorts as he offered her his arm and merely told her to come along like she was some sort of dog that was just meant to follow him. She shrank back a little like a shy violet, Alexandria was the less confrontational of the Bastrova twins. Anastasia would never have stood for it but Lexie was fragile, delicate even.

They entered the hall together and how beautiful it looked. Adorned with fairy lights and decorations it was almost like one of her parents balls, though no where near as elegant she supposed. Van took her hand and for the first time in what felt like months he smiled at her, a genuine smile. She smiled back at him and nodded. "Thank you darling, I do try."
